This Veggie thing is working (day 3)

I am just trying to get everything balanced, but I am realizing it is not as important to record every single thing as it is to make every meal/snack/workout/or walk “count” - or in other words, make it enjoyable and healthy. And if it is a treat, enjoy and have it occasionally. (HA! I have not had too much stress lately though. I can do it! I can handle anything, I tell myself ;) ) I love just looking and knowing what a portion is too. WW taught me this. I thought I knew what a portion was but nothing was changing. Then I learned and started to see results. I am grateful to be relaxed with food again. I received an email from a buddy about how she got sick when she returned to meat. I do not know what will happen with me, but time will certainly tell. All I know is I am living in the moment and not worrying like I have in the past.

I came to a realization also about how much better this diet is for my body systems. Close your eyes and skip down if you like ;) but this is so important for me to share. I am not a “regular” girl. I struggle with getting enough fiber in my diet. It looks like I am getting plenty and I drink a lot of water, but still I may “go” like 1-2 times a week. The body needs to be “cleansed” more then that. What I read many years ago and ignored was that some people have trouble digesting meat. It does take longer to digest meat then it does for grains, fruits and veggies. This is just fact. But many do not have trouble with their bowels. Moi, PROBLEMS ! I am sure it was an accumulation of things for sure though (too much bread and cow’s milk for me!). Though for me when I think about it, it is the meat. I consume the other foods only occasionally but with no problems. Anyways things are moving perfectly since this new diet. I am so happy!

So today I ate/and will eat: plain fat free yogurt, soymilk, Organic Muesli Flakes with Five Grains, sparkling mineral water w/ juice of real lemon and lime, banana, cranberries, black bean and vegetable soup, coconut curry tofu, brown rice, peas, sprouts, veggies, sesame seeds, pecans, Multigrain Corn Thins (like rice cakes) w/ salsa, dark chocolate (Lindt-70%), protein powder, large Sweet Basil leaves w/ Classico Tomato Basil sauce, Chlorella, steamed veggies w/ olive oil, lemon, fresh lemon thyme and rosemary, mandarin orange. I will write more if I have more….. :P

I purchased a good mulitvitamin too, so now I am set. I have tons of old vegetarian cook books so when I have time to create I can. I do however kind of like the simple foods.

Activity: elliptical, pilates and walking

I wish everyone a happy and healthy day.

I am so happy to read you are getting on this well. For me, food is so complicated… and right now, being busy as hell, I am hardly coping with things… plus have to clean out the fridge before I go. I yould need a chef and a dietician. Care to come over?

Hugs, babe, you are taking good care of yourself!

Hey Jenn… It’s sounds like you are finding out what works for you! Keep up the good work, awesome job!

I’ve pretty much got down portions now without having to weigh and measure every little thing. It still amazes me how unknowledgeable I was about portions. Now the men in my house say “Is that all you’re putting on your plate?”… and I can smile and say “Why, yes, it’s one portion for one person and that’s all I need.” and then they look at their plates and go “Oh.” LOL

My son is starting to keep away from the cookie jar, etc. so I feel I’ve been a good influence on him. He takes his “dreaded” vitamins now without being reminded, and knows to eat “good carbs” before karate workout for energy and mind.

Ah yes, life is good. :)

Glad you found a vitamin you could take. :) I’m addicted to mine. :)

Hehe….. I would love to be your nutritionist Lidiecka. As for finding a vitamin, I just needed the lowest Niacin I could find. But your vitamin Shanna sounded awesome. Great for energy too!

Hi Jen, good to see you are taking care of yourself. You have to do what is best for you and what works for your body sort of like your own customized diet…lol Anyways I was a big meat lover but when I became pregnant with my daughter I couldn’t stand the smell of chicken and the whole 9mths avoided but now a year later I still feel the same way infact I only eat fish and sometimes pork chops. I was seriously thinking of becoming a vegetarian, maybe you can share some of those recipes with me.
Take care of yourself girl you are doing great. HUGS!

Sounds like you are having a great week! Which/what kind of multi-vitamin did you get?

Reading your blog is so FUN!

What I keep hearing within them is a sense of adventure and freedom!

I love that you have hidden the scale and focused on how clothes fit! I love that you have stopped thinking in terms of points and calories, but are starting to be relaxed with food!

WOW! ALL OF IT IS WONDERFUL!

I have to say that I probably need to learn portion sizes, eventually.

I am still in the being thrilled to be eating healthy foods part of my walk, but making sure that I have the portion sizes down would be the next thing for me.
