Ghoulash
Did some food prep this AM which should help with lunches when it comes time to thinking about packing it. Cooked a pot of vegetable soup, sweet potatoes, beans. MUST GET GROCERIES TODAY! lol I left room in my sweet potato containers so that I can throw in some other goodies for a more complete meal. I feel like I am like my hamster Meeshka… we are both little conservers. I mean who can eat an entire can of tomatoes or beans at one sitting. Ok you make a chilli, fine you use a whole can of this and that, but I got tired of things going bad so I freeze portions and then I can have some for a rainy day….
Well, I am doing another challenge and I thank my buddy Jo for putting this bug in my eye (ear…. technology!
) Last night was the first night in awhile that I did not snack. So for 30 days I attempt to not snack after supper and in front of that TV. My supper was over at 6:30. What is amazing is that I watched a hockey game that was on TV from 9-11:30 PM and DID NOT SNACK! Wow. I pat myself on the back. *smiles* I was dreaming about different breakfasts and FOOD in general. I was a tad hungry I guess
The only thing that was a bit strange was I woke up a bit moody, which is strange on my day off. But I ate a good breakfast and feel great now! Got loads of cleaning done and I feel like I am in heaven. Jo, I forgot to try the 10 minute thing…. but I will do that on the 3 rooms upstairs a bit later. Nifty idea!
I feel so good about food and exercise right now. No restrictions. A word on exercise - I am just doing it all in my week and keeping things moderately intense for the most part. Some days a little less. Eventually I need the high intensity workout. That is just a good “pill” for me. Just thoughtful discipline which is routed in my readings…. How to Practice The Way to a Meaningful Life. Life is good. Loving perspective and learning to really love me.
Have a peaceful week/weekend everyone. *wink*
Ooohhh homemade vegetable soup. Sounds sooooooo yummy. And healthy!! I’m happy you made it through a snack free evening Jennifer!! YIPPEE!!! I haven’t started to tackle that one yet…keep it up…keep smiling…you sound really happy right now and I love to hear that in your writing!
Yummy! Soup sounds awesome today! Good job on the no snacking, working on that myself!

Preparation is key! I love a good veggie soup. Sounds like you are still in a good place and I think that is great. Keep that attitude! A good intense workout is a a great pill for me as well! And yes, we do rock! lol
Very good! I agree with the above that a nice veggie soup is a wonderful thing. I’ve been going to a local restaurant for their soup–they put in broccoli and cabbage as well as the “traditional” veggies. I’m currently onto broccoli at the moment since Dr. Mercola said it was good for skin cancer. Plus, I love broccoli anyway. Have a wonderful day!!!!
Nothing like preparation to keep one on track! I start getting antsy whenever my healthy foods get low in the cubbards. LOL But preparing does help me to stay focused and prepared when hunger strikes. It’s key for me to be able to maintain, which for me is in some ways harder than losing.
I think that is a great challenge about the not snacking at night! Since my days are long and we have late suppers and I don’t get much of a chance to watch TV, it’s not a big problem for me. It’s the afternoons at work that are a challenge for me. There ARE those rainy lazy watch movies all afternoon Saturdays though that I want to veg out in front of the tube. I usually try to be prepared with shrimp cocktail on hand. That has got to be THE most perfect snack on earth.
I hope you are enjoying your lovely day off my sweet potato friend!
Huggggggggggggggggggs,
Shan
Yummmm…
Just reading your list of veggies is making me hungry in a good way.
It is 5:00 PM on the dot and I am able to leave work and decide what I am going to have to eat.
Your meal sounds pretty good to me.
I took my grandmother to do her grocery shopping this morning and she has already started buying her ingredients for Thanksgiving. Potatoes, turnip, sweetpotatoes, etc.
I was just thinking that, I get so satisfied by the veggies at Thanksgiving that I don’t need anything else.
Okay, all of this food talk is making me hungry, and I am going to get going, because I need to buy groceries for myself, too.
Hope you are well. You are such a BLESSING and such an ENCOURAGER! I appreciate you very much!
May God fill you with His peace for the journey.
I am a chunky soup affectionado all the way. It0s either that or salad days. Currently I’ in a green phase for some reason. I bought romaine lettuce, chinese cabbage, rocket, loads of fresh coriander, tomatoes, and I do super extravagant salads with all that and boiled potatoes with a dijon mustard dressing for lunch or dinner. Heaven. After that, I’m already lookign forward to a fw days of strong sourkraut-venison sausages-parsnips soup. Sounds disgusting? Sorry. It’s really good, though…
Love,
Lid
Awesome, it looks like you’re doing great. I love defrosting on a rainy day too.
You are doing great!! You are doing what works for you and that is awesome!! Keep up the good work!!
